The City Football Schools program in Manchester gives young players between the age of 9 and 17 the chance to feel like a Manchester City player for a few weeks in the summer.

Although English language tuition forms one of the pillars of this camp, the lessons are not held in a classroom. Instead, British Study Centres (the affiliated language school) have created an integrated English program that is framed within a footballing context. This means that the students can have more fun while improving their linguistic abilities.
The objective of the program is to ensure that the participants learn English from the moment they arrive at the camp until the time that they leave. This is easily achieved thanks to a fantastic team of talented teachers who implement these practical and dynamic teaching techniques.
The children will enjoy 15 hours of football training per week and another 15 hours of interactive English classes. While attending the camp, they are accommodated in the residence halls of Salford. The participants will also be treated to two excursions per week and a multitude of other leisure activities.

Young football players who attend the City Football Schools summer camp will train at the new Manchester City sporting complex situated right next to the Etihad Stadium. This state-of-the-art football city boasts some of the best facilities in the world game, and hosts the training sessions of all the ranks of this prestigious club including the first team.

Standard programme features
This programme is recommended for young people of all football abilities who want to have a unique experience in the home city of the team and with the official coaches from the club’s academy.
In terms of the technical aspects of the programme, participants will have two coaching sessions per day from Monday to Friday, a total of 15 hours per week where the young people work on improving their skills and learn to play in the pure style of this great team. Participants are placed in groups according to age and ability, to maximise their learning.
Characteristics and objectives of the training sessions
- The training focuses on developing the player’s abilities, in order to help them reach the maximum level possible.
- A range of strength and performance tests are performed, along with physical reconditioning, to enable the students to reach the performance levels demanded by the modern game.
- A structured tournament is held in which the students are grouped into teams and can put into practice the skills learnt during the camp.
- Students also learn through analysis of matches and game tactics.
TECHNICAL PROGRAMME
This camp follows the format of the standard programme, except that it offers a more intensive and higher level of training. During the 5 days of the programme, there are 30 hours of coaching, therefore this camp is very much oriented towards young people who are already accustomed to regular physical exercise. If your son/daughter plays football and they want to improve their skills, then this programme run by Manchester City may be the one for them. In order to participate in this camp, participants need a high level of English in order to understand the coaches’ instructions and communicate with them fluently.

The Club
Manchester City is one of the oldest football teams in England. Famous Spanish players such as David Silva, Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas have all played a part in Manchester City’s recent success and left their mark on one of the best leagues in the world.

The City Football Schools soccer camp offers students a unique and fun language learning experience. The language academy known as British Study Centres have developed an integrated English program that teaches in a footballing context. This enables the children to improve their linguistic abilities while learning about new aspects of their favourite sport including healthy lifestyle habits and the day-to-day routine of a professional football player.
Language classes at Football camp
English Classes - Standard Program
The language lessons are not held in a classroom in the traditional way. Instead, they are taught within the Manchester City sporting facilities in a practical and interactive way.
This new learning concept is totally focused on motivating the children to improve their English level by exposing them to the language from the moment they arrive to the day that they leave. All activities, training sessions and excursions are held in English ensuring that the children are totally immersed in the language during their stay. This method helps them to learn and improve at a much faster rate.
The English sessions take place between Monday and Friday in the Manchester City facilities, with a morning and evening session making a total of 15 hours per week. During the sessions, participants will cover a different football-related topic each day. For example, on one day they might learn about the importance of nutrition, hydration and rest in the life of a footballer. On another, they could discuss tactics, teamwork and the coexistence of different cultures in sport.
Depending on the topic of the day, the lessons may be held on the field, in the press room, in the changing room or in the conference room.
*This English course is only available for participants on the standard programme.
Manchester City Agenda
The Manchester City Football School program is packed full of activities to keep the students occupied and entertained during their stay.
On a typical day, the children will have breakfast at the residence before taking a private bus to the training grounds of Manchester City Football Club. Once there, the students will take part in the soccer training sessions and interactive English classes.

Lunch is eaten at the training centre after which the afternoon football and language sessions begin. Once these activities have been completed, the participants head back to the residence to eat their evening meal.
After dinner, the students will have the opportunity to rest in their rooms or take part in a program of fun activities that the supervisors have prepared for them. Each night a different activity is prepared from a range of options including games, competitions, talent shows, BBQs or cinema nights.
Excursions
After a busy week training, the weekend gives the students the chance to switch off from football and relax and have fun with their campmates. During the two-week summer camp, there are a total of three full-day weekend activities organised. While they are away from the camp, the students are provided with a picnic-style packed lunch to keep them satisfied until they return for dinner.
The excursions include:
- Tour of Manchester City’s stadium and the National Football Museum on the Sunday
- Trip to Blackpool and its theme park and pleasure beach on the last Saturday

Manchester City Accommodation
Students who attend the City Football Schools summer camp in Manchester get to train at the same facilities as the Manchester City first team. In addition, all of the English classes are held within the same complex.
The Manchester City Sports City is a vast sporting venue that has been recently constructed next to the club’s Etihad stadium.

The centre is equipped with all the modern conveniences you would expect and one of Europe’s biggest clubs including various football pitches, of both natural and artificial turf, a gym, games room, conference room, boardroom and cafeteria.
During their stay, the students are transported by private bus from the nearby residence at Salford.
Accommodation
Camp participants stay at the Salford student housing located 20 minutes by bus at the Manchester City sports com plex where kids train daily. This residence has single rooms with private bathrooms. The premises are enclosed, supervised by instructors 24hours a day and has several common areas and sport facilities available for the camp participants so they can use them during their free time.
After breakfast each day, the participants will travel by private bus to the Manchester City football academy. Once they have completed their football training and English classes, they will be transported back to the residence for dinner. After which, they will participate in a range of leisure activities before heading back to their rooms to sleep.
Supervisors
All of the monitors at the summer camp are fully qualified and provide 24 hour supervision for the students. The staff members stay at the same residence as the students and accompany them on their journey to the training grounds and throughout the organised excursions.

Steps to make a reservation for the camp
- Step 1: Make a payment of 50% of the total cost of the program. (If you reserve after May 31st, you must pay 100% of the cost of the program to reserve.)
- Step 2: Turn in the required documents duly completed.
Once you have completed steps 1 and 2, we’ll send you a confirmation of your reservation.
Once you have received the confirmation, you can buy your transportation tickets. If you have reserved the transfer service, be sure to send us an email regarding the details of your trip so we can successfully transport you to the camp.
