The annual football camp program in Manchester is designed for young people between the ages of 16 and 21 who want to improve their soccer skills while also studying another language.
The scheme takes place during an academic year at a first class sports academy in the city of Manchester, England.
- The academy offers Program of 3, 6 or 9 months including soccer training and 15 hours of English classes each week.
- A summer soccer program with English classes (15 hours per week) is also available. If you want more information about this programme please get in touch.
The soccer coaching sessions take place every day between Monday and Friday and each session lasts for at least 1.5 hours. The academy also runs a fitness program to help students reach their optimal physical condition. At the weekend, the young players will get the chance to take part in matches where they can practise their new skills.
The academy offers a high level of professional training; therefore, it is important that students already have an intermediate or advanced level of football before they enrol into the academy.
The English classes are hosted by the renowned Berlitz language school and consist of 15 hours of tuition every week. During their time in England, the students can choose to live in either a homestay with an English family or in a residence together with other international students. When combined with their language studies, this means that students will be totally immersed in an English-speaking culture.
Those participants who want to improve their English and football skills during the summer months can opt for our summer academy program.
The annual football academy program in Manchester includes 5 sessions of professional training between Monday and Friday each week for three, six or nine months.
During the first week of their stay at the academy, each student will undergo an initial assessment in order to determine their ability. Following this, the trainer and their technical staff will determine whether the student should be assigned to group 1 for the more advanced players or to group 2 which is for players at an intermediate level.
All the training sessions at the academy are focussed on the technical and tactical development of the player. The objective is to help each player progress, not only from an individual perspective, but also in a team setting.
Daily training sessions last about 1.5 hours and are focussed on the 4 following basic elements:
- Football exercises and drills
- Fitness sessions to work on participants’ physical condition
- Tournaments and matches (which are normally played at weekends)
- Post-match warm down sessions
Aside from the daily training sessions, participants will also have access to the academy gym so they can improve their physical condition. They will be given a permit to use all the fantastic sporting facilities at the SLC Fitness Centre where they can attend any of the following sessions:
- Physical conditioning
- 50/50 Core and Bike
In addition, they will also have access to the swimming pool and sauna.
Most experts agree that the best way of learning a language is to stay in the country for an extended period of time. The immersion process offers a natural way to learn and by enrolling in an academy that combines sports and language in an English-speaking environment, students will give themselves the greatest chance of success.
