The Exsportise ‘English plus Horse Riding’ camp which takes place in England during the months of July and August, is designed for all levels of ability, from those who have never been on a horse up to the most experienced riders. Participants receive 15 hours of equestrian instruction per week, which is complemented by English lessons.

  • Equestrian instruction: 15 hours/week
  • English classes: 15 hours/week
  • Accommodation options: Clayesmore, west of England and Oundle School, north of London

Exsportise attracts participants from all over the world and this mix of nationalities is key to the success of the camps. Training

  • Hours of training per week: 15 h/week
  • Languages spoken by coaches: English
  • Levels of training offered by the camp: Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner
  • How are the groups organized?: Age
  • Number of children per group: 6

The young riders are assessed when they arrive and, depending on their skill level, they either spend a week learning dressage and show jumping or proceed straight to riding in the beautiful English countryside.

All the training sessions are planned around competition day, which takes place every Friday, when the riders compete in a dressage contest and a competition over jumps, beginning with poles on the ground and building upwards for the more experienced riders.

A key element of our programme is the work in the stable and the horse preparation. As part of the daily routine, students learn to groom their horses and get them ready for riding, as well as becoming familiar with the equipment they use and the different parts of the horse – all in English.

Language Classes

  • English lessons: 15 hours a week (3 a day, Monday to Friday)
  • Level test: Yes
  • Groups: Normally between 10 and 12 students
  • Requirements: Have completed at least one year of English

The camp includes 15 hours a week of English lessons (3 per day, from Monday to Friday). In addition to the classes, participants will be practising their English in the context of their horse riding instruction and activities.

All the activities are carried out in English and the multinational environment means that the common language used between the students during their stay is English.

Level test

Before their arrival, participants are asked to undergo a English level test, comprising a multiple choice and written test as well as a comprehension exercise. During their first English class they will also do a small oral English test. The students who have not taken the test online before the start of the camp will do it on the first day of classes.

Class size

Classes contain on average 10-12 students and we guarantee no more than 14 to a class. All study groups have a mix of nationalities, when possible.

To be eligible to join the course, students need to have completed at least a year of English study.

Camp Schedule

At Exsportise camps the fun and activities never stop ! From first thing in the morning until bed time, the young people have a wide choice of interesting things to do in addition to their sport and language study.

Activities

To complete the day of activities, we offer a varied and fun social programme in the evenings. The Entertainment team at Exsportise plan a range of different events, such as talent shows, film nights, team games, treasure hunts, ball games, disco nights or races. This provides all the camp participants with a great opportunity to get to know one another outside their sports training and English class. Students are under the careful supervision of camp personnel at all times.

Recreational Facilities

All venues have comfortable recreation rooms with televisions. There are also swimming pools available at all locations, supervised by qualified life guards. There are large external areas with sports equipment, where the young people can relax with their camp mates and play, for example, tennis, football, volleyball and table tennis and thus enjoy some other sport apart from their horse riding.

Excursions

For participants staying more than one week, there is also the option of a full day excursion at the weekend.

One of these outings is a visit to an interesting English city, such as Bath, Brighton, Oxford or Cambridge. This gives students the opportunity of experiencing some traditional British culture and seeing attractive natural landmarks. There is also a chance to do some shopping, relax and enjoy themselves.

The most popular excursions are without doubt the visits to theme parks such as Thorpe Park or Chessington World of Adventures. Participants enjoy a full day of fun in one of the UK’s best theme parks! It’s a great way of relaxing and enjoying new friendships. All excursions are fully supervised by the Exsportise staff. Packed lunches are provided on the day of the excursion.

There are also excursions to London available at an additional cost, subject to availability.
